A day in the life

Reporting directly to the Food & Beverage Operations Manager, you will be an integral part of our F&B Operations Team, we’re looking for someone who can oversee a team of F&B Attendants and co-ordinate daily operations across the F&B function.

As a leader, you’ll support, drive and manage the Front of House team, ensuring, continued to growth and delivery of an exceptional level of service to our members and guests. This is a hands-on position where you’ll work on the floor, be involved in the recruitment of new staff, coordinate rosters and have input on the F&B business plan.

If you are an awesome leader with a charismatic personality, then we want YOU to lead our team of passionate F&B Attendants. This is a full-time position and you'll be rostered to meet the peak and flow of business demands. Weekend and peak period availability is essential.

• Previous experience in a similar leadership role, preferably within a 4-5* a-la-carte restaurant environment or conference & events team.
• Extensive food, wine & beverage knowledge.
• A genuine love of the hospitality industry.
• Good business acumen and some exposure to rostering. 
• Strong leadership skills to achieve a positive working culture.
• A hands-on approach to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A valid Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate.

  The Position
  The Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP formally known as AAHL) seeks to appoint an experienced animal facility leader to deliver leadership in the provision of small animal services to CSIRO science and research teams.

  In this critical role you will lead a small team within the Small Animal Facility (SAF) team. The SAF is one of 3 Animal Facility Teams, with the SAF being located at the Geelong laboratory. As the Team Leader you will work closely with the Deputy Team Leader, SAF to supervise other SAF staff and work as part of an on-call roster to provide high level advice and animal care as required.

  The Team Leader will ensure the SAF maintains a disease-free facility and provides the highest standard of animal husbandry. You will be required to ensure animal ethic and welfare protocols are adhered to, to ensure the best possible outcomes for the animals and science. You will also provide leadership and management requirements to other animal technicians and husbandry staff and provide training as required to other facility users.

To be appointed to this role you must be able to meet ACDP microbiological security and security assessment requirements.

Your duties will include:

• Oversee and provide leadership over all aspects of the Small Animal Facility.
• Provide technical assistance to science and research activities involving small animals within the microbiologically contained facility at CSIRO ACDP. 
• Oversee the daily operations of the SAF and alongside the Deputy Team Leader ensure tasks are carried out appropriately and efficiently and to quickly implement solutions when problems arise. 
• Induct and train staff and students to ensure they are appropriately skilled to undertake a range of duties in the SAF.

Salary: AU$98k – AU$106k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be considered you will need:

• A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in animal sciences or a related field.
• 2+ years of demonstrated achievement in leading animal studies teams. 
• Demonstrated high level of scientific knowledge, competence and record of achievement in animal sciences and care in a research setting.
• Post-qualification and career-based experience working with small animals including injections and collection, euthanasia and identification in animals such as rodents and chickens. 
• A thorough understanding of relevant legislation and regulations including: 
  • Victorian legislation: Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986 Vic and Regulations 1997.
  • Regulatory bodies protocol and procedures: Office of the Genetic Technology Regulator (OGTR) and Department of Agriculture and Water Resources (DAWR).
  • Industry standards: Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes.

JKs Meredith based client is experiencing a period of growth at their poultry farm and they are looking for an eager and fit farm hand. This high-volume egg production company service some of the biggest supermarket chains in Australia with between 8-14 sheds in operation at one time.

As a farm hand you will be responsible for the day to day duties associated with the laying production cycle, including;

• Shed cleaning and preparation
• Hands-on with pullets and hens
• Observe bird health and environment
• Daily checks including, temperature/humidity, water and feed
• Vaccination
• Rodent control
• Manual egg collection from floor and belt

To be successful in this role you must:

• Be permanent resident or citizen of Australia
• Be willing to travel with reliable car and licence
• Be consistently punctual and reliable
• Demonstrate flexibility to take on a range of tasks across the farm
• Be able to work on weekends

Previous experience working outdoors with animals would be highly regarded along with a forklift or MR licence.
