The Position:

Postdoctoral Fellows are appointed for up to three years and work closely with a leading Research Scientist or Engineer in their respective field. They carry out innovative, impactful research of strategic importance to CSIRO with the possibility of novel and important scientific outcomes. They present the findings in appropriate publications and at conferences.

In this Postdoctoral Fellowship role you will be based at the world-leading, Australian Animal Health Laboratory in Geelong, where you will apply a multi-disciplinary approach to studying the neurobiology of lyssavirus infection in relevant mouse models, with the view to gaining deep insights into neurobiology and neuropathology. You will work closely with the various teams at AAHL, including pathologists, pathogen biologists, virologists and veterinarians, and will bring your own skills in the areas of neurobiology, virology, immunology cell biology or other relevant field. You will principally be involved in developing and optimising animal infection models for rabies and other lyssaviruses, for the purposes of basic neurobiology research and vaccine/therapeutics testing.

All animal work will be done under the oversight of the AAHL Animal Ethics Committee according to the principles of the Australian Code for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes.

Your duties will include:

• Under the direction of senior research scientists, carry out innovative, impactful research of strategic importance to CSIRO that will, where possible, lead to novel and important scientific outcomes.
• Plan, design and implement relevant animal studies, including compiling documentation for the AAHL Animal Ethics Committee.
• Conduct detailed laboratory assessments on samples, and analyse clinical and pathological data.
• Undertake regular reviews of relevant literature and patents.
• Produce high quality scientific papers suitable for publication in quality journals, for client reports and granting of patents.

Salary: $82k to $93k plus up to 15.4% superannuation

To be successful you will have:

• A doctorate (or will shortly satisfy the requirements of a PhD) in a relevant discipline area, such as neurobiology, virology, immunology, cell biology or molecular biology. Please note: To be eligible for this role you must have no more than 3 years of relevant postdoctoral experience.
• Willingness to meet and comply with AAHL’s microbiological security and safety requirements as defined in the position description document.
• High level written and oral communication skills with the ability to represent the research team effectively internally and externally, including at national and international conferences.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience in the use of animals in biomedical research.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary research team, plus the motivation and discipline to carry out research autonimously.
• A record of science innovation and creativity, plus the ability and willingness to take novel directions ideas and approaches into scientific investigations.

An opportunity has arisen for a Business Process Analyst to work within a busy service delivery environment for a Disability Service Organisation. Working in the Finance team, this department will oversee the development of new processes, process maps and technological designs to ensure improvements to participant and provider pathways are scalable and understood by the organisation and Partners in the Community. Their mission is to enhance the organisations reputation and facilitate awareness through proactive engagement and providing accurate, clear and accessible information to their audience in a timely manner.

Reporting to the General Manager of Finance and Procurement, and the Deputy CFO, you will be responsible for the mapping, analysing and improving internal and externally facing processes across the organisation. You will be the ambassador for clear and accessible content in process engineering for the organisations brand and will contribute to the improvement of their external publication channels to ensure they meet the needs of their audience.

The role of a Business Process Analyst is diverse, therefore some of your other duties will include but are not limited to:

• Reviewing assigned business processes form end-to-end to identify and address operational, financial and technological risks relating to the Strategic Program.
• Be responsible for performing gap analysis on existing written procedures.
• Facilitate and support workshops, working with stakeholders to develop current and future state process maps and identify opportunities to improve the processes, resulting in better participant experience.
• Working closely with the Directors of Process Design and Continuous Improvement to identify and capture opportunities for process improvement
• Assist with stakeholder management by building beneficial relationships to ensure the embedding of new process and harness maximum efficiency from process design.

To be successful in this role you must have previous experience in a similar role. You will have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills and have the confidence to deliver clear advice to the business. You will be a self-starter who is resilient and flexible with the ability to adapt to a changing environment. You must be able to prioritise your work well and be passionate at delivering best practices. 

You must have proficient IT skills and be competent with IT systems with experience in a number of delivery methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma, Agile, PRIINCE2, ARIS, Visio, BPMN 2.0 and Human Centred Design.

This role is to start ASAP for 6 months with possibility for extension. This role is paying $69 per hour working Monday to Friday from 8.30am – 5pm.
